New home of Brisbane Fashion Month

Queensland’s principal industry and consumer fashion event, Brisbane Fashion Month, will take over Brisbane this October as the city’s only major fashion and runway event for 2020.

Now in its fifth year, Brisbane Fashion Month (BFM) boasts its biggest line-up yet, with more world-class designers, runways, panel discussions, networking and development opportunities than ever before. The month-long festival is Queensland’s largest showcase of local designers.

Brisbane Fashion Month’s major events will be staged at its new home, the newly launched Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct by LSH Property Australia.

“Brisbane Fashion Month works to encapsulate the most iconic, unique and creative elements of Queensland’s fashion landscape,” festival director Laura Churchill said.

“The fact we are able to stage our Resort Finale runway and other key events at one of Brisbane’s most iconic new landmarks Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct signals a coming-of-age for Brisbane Fashion Month.

“We will deliver an incredible line-up of world-class designers and creators this year and shine a light on an industry that has shown incredible adaptation and resilience through this year’s events,” Laura concluded.

Key events will be staged at the Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct’s premium event spaces overlooking unmatched views of the Brisbane river.

Tara Carroll, Marketing and Event Manager, LSH Property Australia said, “Here at LSH Property Australia our vision is to create long-term value add partnerships, not only within our diverse range of premium brands who call Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct home but within the wider community.

“Brisbane Fashion Month has since become a quintessential period on the Brisbane calendar year and with our strong focus on combining style and innovation, led by first-class experiences, the synergy was unparalleled. We are looking forward to showcasing the best of Brisbane and creating some truly memorable moments.”

Landmark Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct tenant Mercedes-Benz Brisbane also joins Brisbane Fashion Month as a partner for 2020.

Brisbane Fashion Month presented by Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct will encompass several runway events across October 1-31 including emerging designers, an art and fashion-focused runway, an outdoor runway and accessories market at West Village which will also be home to the new Brisbane Beauty Forum event highlighting Queensland hair, makeup and skincare brands. There will be a strong focus on digital content and live streaming of all major events in order to reach as large an audience as possible despite in-person capacity restrictions at each event.

The 2020 line-up features free and ticketed events such as Brisbane designer pop-up stores and innovative updates including unique digital-only content which will be a first for Brisbane fashion.

Also joining the line-up of debut events is the Art and Fashion Forum hosted by Vault magazine editor and fashion commentator Alison Kubler.

The much-loved Sustainable Fashion Walking Tours, led by Britt’s List’s Brittanie Dreghorn return in 2020 to provide insight into ethical brands and sustainable fashion across two weekends in October, and designer Danielle Kay behind brands d+k active and Sleepy Dee will throw open the doors to her design studio and workrooms to unveil the inner workings of local production.

Brisbane Fashion Month director Laura Churchill says she is thrilled to once again bring together the most talented and creative names of Queensland’s fashion industry during October.

“The effects of the 2020 pandemic have been devastating for so many industries, ours included, so there is no better time to bring together all this incredible state has to offer for a month-long opportunity to highlight and network with, the biggest names in the industry,” said director Laura Churchill.

“We are planning around the best advice and guidelines and expect events to look a little different this year but still deliver great experiences for our audience to see Brisbane fashion at its finest.”
